Baz, Baz, Not Good: Was Elvis Ever Really in the Building?

“Blink and you might miss it.” That’s a phrase that I’d like to use to describe Baz Luhrmann’s latest film, one that moves at such breakneck speeds that at times I felt nauseous while watching. I can’t, though, and that’s because, despite its relentless pace and a constant barrage of shallow biopic moments, Elvis boasts a two-hour and 40-minute runtime that feels like it’s never going to end.

Crimes of the Future: Dissecting Things To Come

2022, Dir. David Cronenberg ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I was originally going to write about David Cronenberg’s new film Crimes of the Future in my “Today, Tomorrow, Yesterday” column for June but, as you can see, that didn’t work out. Before I begin writing in earnest, let’s check out what I had to say before seeing the film: […]

    Upon Reflection: An A-men-dment

Warning: Possible spoilers for Men (2022) ahead. Ever since I saw Alex Garland’s new film Men, I’ve been meaning to come back and write an updated post. If you saw my initial review you know that I enjoyed the film, but as the days passed I came to realize that I had missed something while […]

    Male-levolence: The Wrath of Men

2022, Dir. Alex Garland ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Alex Garland’s Men is a film that I’ve been looking forward to for a while now. I’ve seen quite a few films in theaters in the past month, and each time this trailer popped up I couldn’t contain my excitement. From the filmmaker who brought us Ex Machina and Annihilation, […]

    Choose Film: Welcome to Framespotting

Hi, and thanks for visiting my blog. My name is Ian and I’ve long held a passion for film. My earliest movie memory is going to see Shrek in theaters and sitting on the edge of my seat because I wasn’t heavy enough to hold it down — the rest is history. I graduated with […]
